On January 21, 2018, the Southern University of Science and Technology Education Foundation (SUSTEF) host a memorable Thanks For Giving Dinner with the theme of “Honors to the Pioneers” in Shenzhen.
Guests gathered here including the representatives of the Shenzhen government, well-known enterprises and the Harbin Institute of Technology. Guo Yurong, SUSTech University Council Chairperson, Chen Shiyi, SUSTech President and Li Ming, the deputy director of SUSTEF also attended the party. Ma Weihua, the director of the National Fund for Technology Transfer and Commercialization and Grubbs, a Nobel laureate in chemistry and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences sent their best wishes via videos.
The party presented the achievement of SUSTech and its education foundation. President Chen Shiyi expressed his sincere thanks to the support from the government and community. “The city breeds the university, and the university benefits the city,” Chen pointed out.
The year of 2017 witnessed a rapid growth of the Southern University of Science and Technology Education Foundation (SUSTEF), with the donation amount reaching 195.57 million, which came from over 30 organizations including state-owned enterprises, groups, companies and foundations. “Every donor should remain in the development history of SUSTech,” said Guo Yurong.
Professor Liu Ke, a foreign fellow of the Australia Technological Sciences and Engineering, also the dean of ICollege, delivered a speech illustrating the connection between SUSTech and entrepreneurs and introducing the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Tang Jie, the invited guest from Harbin Institute of Technology gave a keynote speech on the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
SUSTech has started the Entrepreneurship Mentor Program and issued appointment letters to the first group of entrepreneurship mentors in the dinner. Also, the annual awards of SUSTEF were also given to the donors.
The guests also shared their opinions and advice about the development of SUSTech and then enjoyed the excellent performances.
