      Extensive research experience in nanomaterials synthesis (nanocrystals, carbon nanotubes, nanowires, nanoporous materials, 2D metal oxides and polymer nanocomposites), materials characterization, micro/nanofabrication and applications including catalysis, energy-related devices, biosensors and nanoelectronics 
      Proven research track record, with over eighty research papers (total SCI citations =3800+, h-index=37), including three papers in Science and one invited feature article, one US patent and two Chinese patents granted, six US patents and two International patents on materials synthesis pending; his research has been extensively covered by the media including New Scientist, Business Week, Scientific American, MIT Technology Review, and etc

Developed a solvothermal process to aggregate-free/monodisperse nanocrystals (BaTiO3 based perovskite, lead zirconate, doped ZnO/TiO2, Cu2O/MnO/Fe3O4) and nanocrystal dispersion for thin film processing of nanocrystals or nanocrystal-polymer composites; studied the applications in capacitor, high-k gate dielectric, and organic thin film transistor [56, 69, two US patents applied for]
Developed a synthesis and nanofabrication process for single-walled carbon nanotube-based devices (such as sensors), studied optical and electronic properties of individual SWNTs using micro-Raman spectroscopy in collaboration with Prof. Zhonghua Yu [51-55, 57-68,70]
