Yuan Xiaofei

Research Assistant Professor

School of Environmental Science and Engineering

Xiaofei Yuan received the Ph.D degree from the University of Tokyo (Japan) in 2005, working on protein-encapsulated drug delivery systems for cancer therapy, and obtained a patent on it during this period. As a postdoctoral researcher in Tsukuba University (Japan), Dr. Yuan focused on particle-based biosensors and developed highly sensitive immunolatex for Biokit S.A. biotechnology company (Spain) using special surface modification techniques, which extremely improved the detection limit of normal clinical immunolatex. After moving to University of Glasgow (UK), Dr. Yuan started microfabrication-based cross-disciplinary research related to Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, and Environmental science. Apart from design and fabrication of 3D microfluidic prototypes for single-cell analysis for Nissan Chemical Industry Ltd. (Japan), Dr. Yuan was also involved in numbers of projects as co-applicants and published first-author papers in top journals.
